Maryland Woman Fatally Shot in DC Park

A 21-year-old Maryland woman, Ambria Farmer, was shot and killed in Fort Dupont Park, Southeast D.C., on Saturday afternoon, July 15, 2024. D.C. police are now offering a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Police responded to a call about an unconscious person in the park off Minnesota Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers discovered Farmer’s body. She had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This incident adds to a string of recent violent events in the area, highlighting the ongoing concerns about public safety in Southeast D.C. Community leaders and law enforcement are collaborating to enhance safety measures and prevent further violence.
