FEDERALLY EMPLOYED WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PERIOD OPENS

Open to federally employed women in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil or Harford counties who are currently enrolled in higher education at an accredited college or university. The woman selected will receive a $500.00 scholarship to offset her college expenses. The presentation of award(s) will be during Team APG, Federal Women’s Program, Women’s Equality Day Ceremony, August 30, at 10:30 at the Myer Auditorium, building 6000. Recipient must be pursuing first undergraduate or graduate degree and cannot receive scholarship more than once. Three letters of recommendation are required. APG POOLS NOW OPEN

The APG North (Aberdeen) Olympic Pool and the APG South (Edgewood) Bayside Pool are now open through Aug. 25.

Lap Swim: Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Recreational Swim: Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ABERDEEN FARMER’S MARKET

Festival Park, 4 to 7 p.m. The City of Aberdeen will host its Farmer’s Market this year, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, May through September. Local vendors will offer produce, eggs, meats, flowers, herbs, baked goods, wine, personal care items and more.

SRC COUNSELING SERVICE

Through a special partnership, counseling services through the City of Aberdeen Vet Center for active duty service members, veterans and their families are available on a limited basis at the APG SHARP Resource Center. Available services include individual, group, marital, family, bereavement and sexual trauma counseling. COUPLES COUNSELING

Behavioral Health Care Services, or BHCS, at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic is offering new Couples Counseling known as “The Sound Relationship House” which focuses on creating shared goals, commitments, managing conflicts and more. BHCS at KUSAHC offers a variety of counseling services, crisis intervention and referral assistance to active duty service members, military retirees and their families. Services are available 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. BREAKING THE SILENCE SUPPORT GROUP

Dates and locations are confidential. Breaking the Silence Support Group is for service members and family members who have experienced domestic abuse. The group offers support through bi-weekly educational meetings, networking opportunities and a safe space where the healing process can begin. RETIRING SOON? UNCLE SAM WANTS TO THANK YOU!

Are you an APG Soldier or civilian nearing retirement from government service? Consider participating in the monthly Installation Retirement Ceremony. Hosted the last Thursday each month (except in November and December when hosted the first Thursday of the month) by the APG Garrison, the event includes awards and decorations provided to retirees and their spouses. Photo discs are mailed to each retiree four to six weeks after the ceremony. All Soldiers and civilians are eligible to participate, regardless of unit or organization.
