Star Card now accepted at APG Commissary

Military Star Cards, the credit card for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, are now accepted at the Aberdeen Proving Ground commissary.

Debbie Armendariz, store manager for the APG Mini Mall, said the first day the card was accepted at the commissary was Oct. 24. The card has been accepted at the Exchange and Express stores and gas stations, among other businesses on the installation.

APG is part of a nationwide roll-out of military commissaries accepting the card. It started Oct. 2 at Fort Lee, Virginia and continues through Nov. 9, 2017.

Previously, the card could not be used at the commissaries because AAFES is run by the Department of Army, while the commissary is run by the Department of Defense.

Users of the card earn two points for every dollar spent at military exchanges and other participating locations. For every 2,000 points earned, users earn a $20 Military Star rewards card, which can be redeemed for merchandise or services anywhere an exchange gift card is accepted.
